About IPGKTHO
Institut Pendidikan Guru Malaysia Kampus Tun Hussein Onn (IPTHO), or the Tun Hussein Onn Teacher Education Institute, is a teacher training institute located in Batu Pahat, Johor, Malaysia. It was established in 1992 and is named after the former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Hussein Onn.
The institute was built on a 60-acre site that was originally used for plantations and agriculture. The construction of the institute was funded by the World Bank and was completed in April 1992. The institute was officially opened by the then Minister of Education, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, on 19 May 1992.
IPTHO offers a variety of teacher education programmes, including the Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Primary Education, the Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Secondary Education, and the Diploma in Education. The institute also offers postgraduate programmes, such as the Master of Education and the Doctor of Philosophy in Education.
IPTHO is one of the leading teacher training institutes in Malaysia. It has produced many outstanding teachers who have made significant contributions to the Malaysian education system. - 2012: The institute is awarded the ISO 9001:2008 certification.
- 2017: The institute celebrates its 25th anniversary.
